Beyond Skin

Mixed media: Paint & Pastel on Canvas

A visual exploration of the implications of skin color: choosing to make the skin itself colors that are often used to describe skin color but are inaccurate representations of it, for a juxtaposition the background is more explicitly “skin toned.” Representing the ridiculousness of using skin color as an excuse for division, conflict, racism and prejudice. For if we were blue, orange, and pink would we still use it to divide?

For we are all human. Humans of different shades.
